QualityRights Ghana initiative has presented turbo-net internet routers and laptops to its national partners and stakeholders. This gesture is in the bid to ensure successful nationwide activation of the QualityRights e-training.

Presenting the items during a short ceremony at the conference room of the Mental Health Authority in Accra, Dr Akwasi Osei, The QualityRights in Mental Health Ghana project lead, and CEO of the Mental Health Authority, said it was in fulfillment of the commitment made by funders.

The partners who received the package were optimistic it would boost the signing up of Ghanaians unto the QualityRights e-training platform.

“This has come at the right time and we are very excited,” said Melody, of Ta-Excel Foundation. “It will help us sign up more people in the door-to-door campaign we are undertaking in some communities in the Volta region.”

To Anaba Sunday, Project Manager of Basic Needs Ghana, the initiative was timely.

“It is something that we have been expecting and it has come at the right time when everybody in Ghana is embracing QualityRights and is looking for ways to enroll electronically on the modules,” he said. “We will like to thank DFID, WHO and all partners who made this possible.”

Other beneficiaries of the package include The Mental Health Authority, MindFreedom Ghana, Ghana Health Service, the Christian Health Association of Ghana, Passion for Total Care, Mental Health Society of Ghana (MEHSOG), Inclusion Ghana, Special Olympics Ghana,as well other mental health facilities across the country.

An initiative of the World Health Organization and implemented in Ghana by the Mental Health Authority and its partners, the QualityRights e-training is a learning platform which aims to reform mental health services, and promote the human rights of people with psychosocial and intellectual disabilities in Ghana.

The project aims to roll out programmes to promote attitudes and practices that respect the dignity and rights of people with mental health conditions, psychosocial and intellectual disabilities.
