Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Willing Ways Foundation Ghana (WWF), Madam Lydia Abena Manu has charged on the Government and all Ghanaians to adopt a system of making mental health care and addiction as one of their topmost priority from next year.

According to the CNN 2018 heroes award nominee and CEO of WWF, treatment of the mentally ill and addicts needs a united front and joint hands hence the need for everyone to get on board.

Madam Abena Manu made this appeal at Ahinsan old Post office drugs ghetto when she held a party for over 500 drug addicts and prostitutes whose lives have ended them homeless due to drugs and other social vises.

Some ghettos which were visited were Ahinsan old Post office, Kaase ghetto, Bantama ghetto, and popular drugs and prostitutes base B.B.

They were served with food, soft drinks, and pastries as well as second clothes.

Speaking in an interview with Otec News, Madam Abena Manu called on the Government to establish more rehabilitation centers and support the existing ones to make them effective. She said treating such illness needs time and monitoring of patients which can not be done without these rehabs.

She also called on Ghanaians to understand that mental illness and addiction are diseases, therefore, must be treated as such and not to always relate them to satanic disease.

Meanwhile, the former rapper now born again Evangelist Lord Kenya founder and head Pastor and congregation of the Face of Grace church at Adiebeba, who were partners of the charity ghetto party shared with the Word of God from the Bible and prayed for them. He advised them to begin thinking of how they will eliminate drugs and social vises lifestyle from their lives and with that they can change and become respected persons in the society. He recounted the bad times he went through whiles he was on drugs some years ago.

Evangelist Kenya, however, called on Ghanaians not to neglect persons who have landed in the ghettos rather get close to them, know their problems and help them and with that, there will be no or fewer drug addicts in our society.

The willing ways foundation is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) well known for the treatment of mental health issues, drug addicts and alcoholism is based at Ejisu Kwamo in the Ashanti region. The center has two rehabilitation centers for both sexes.
